Door Locks Inop

I have a 2002 taurus lx v6 engine code u. The door locks dont work either inside or with the remote entry. when i depress the button for the locks inside the car all I hear is the relay. I checked the fuse and its good. On Sunday of this past week, I was able to reset the door locks by turning the ignition key on and off in succession of 8 times and the locks worked until today. Now even if I do the 8 time reset they still dont work with the fob or without.

The fob works because it will open the trunk and it will set off the alarm to the car.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Does each individual door switch fire a relay? FMC relays of that vintage do seem to be of Harbor Frayt Toolz quality. Other than that, I've seen the master switch console on the driver's door cause all sorts or wierd PW and PDL issues. That little panel takes a beatn' from use, weather, etc..
