An unpleasant read at best. Search around and you will find what heppens when 6-10 people are given the keys to an 'open forum' and therefore feel free to lay into anyone they can.

In this latest example there is a sub-current about a woman who confided in others about her drinking problem...and it gets thrown back up.

Seen those un-moderated sites. They are indeed a free for all, and some of the ugliest places you will find on the web for vitriolic attacks and outright rage and hostility. Not pretty places to see.

BITOG owes its very civil community to the very moderation that some take issue with, but which they do voluntarily and - from what I've seen - do a good job of keeping the site free of that vitriol and ensuring the community here is one that behaves in a civil manner. They do a good job and the proof is in the fact that this is a rare oasis on the net that is free of the ugliness found elsewhere.

that beign said, moderation that keeps people who are pure black from attacking others is nto a bad idea because face it, people cannot be trusted too often.

however, sometimes when you have moderation it gets too heavy handed or unevenly applied as we have seen here, simply because there are egos and cliques.

In 9 years of 'here' i have not seen a truly evil person last on a moderated site - take away their audience and bam...
