As far as responses go from corporate, I am impressed with their response time and their response itself. It appears that as long as you do your diligence and make sure you document document document and make sure you observe observe observe as any errors are made, Valvoline is willing to step up and provide compensation for their errors. Reflecting on this, I suppose that can be a positive aspect of going to a quick lube that is backed by a more reputable company. You actually do have the opportunity to observe the oil change as it is happening. If I were at a shop and this was done back in a bay on a lift somewhere out of my sight, I may have never noticed the issue until my car stopped running days later. I know I dodged one this time.

Did you ask if they had a sawzall?

On a more serious note, I wonder if "sorry, we don't have any Audi filters" is going to be a stock answer for a little while at those places.

Yeah, actually I think you were right. I was hasty to say it's not a true story.

I still can't believe any tech would be so stupid to cut the hole in the pan.

A friend of mine bought a Mazda 3 a few years ago. When he took it to the dealer for the first oil change, he said the first thing they did was cut a hole in the bottom of the belly pan with a rotozip. He was laughing about it and I kept my mouth shut.

I still miss my M5 because it was indeed so much better than your typical "common car".

Here's another question: Why did said oil change place even have a cutting tool (rotozip, sawzall, etc.) in their toolbox in the first place?

Where, in the course of an instant oil change, is it necessary to have something like that?

Did you trade it in for Charger SRT-8 ?

Any BMW (as with other high performance cars) are much better than any typical car when it is driven as intended.

The problem is many posers drive their high performance cars worse than Prius, accelerate at much slower rate than a slow Prius(not a normal Prius), couldn't take corner at more than 0.1-0.2G, driving slower than traffic on left lane while right lane is emptied ...

I don't know about other states, but in So Cal we have many posers, they have more money than their gut. Many high performance cars owners should drive Corolla, not M3 nor AMG nor Porsche ...

Yes, I traded it for the Charger due to the incredible deal that was offered. There was a thread about it. Don't get me wrong, the SRT-8 is fantastic, but the M5 was a phenomenal car with an interior that you knew was the reason the price tag on the car was what it was. Best seats I've ever sat in.

The Charger is faster and less "quirky". It has warranty, more power and better brakes. But there was something intoxicating about that [censored] sled that it doesn't have.

Do I regret selling it? Sometimes.

I think I preferred being called a grandmother over a poser.

Well I mean is a Glenfarclas 21 better than Johnnie Walker?

To some people whisky is whisky so they should not waste their money on things they cannot appreciate.

The hatchet man, aka VIOC pit monkey was formerly working at a fast food place and he used to use the sawzall to cut through the hamburger bun so he could put ketchup and mustard on the burger.

Also so he could cut though the fry container and place the fries in it.

Even so the business should have REFUSED to perform service on the vehicle if they didn't have the proper training, equipment, parts, ect. There is a LEGAL expectation of reasonable service if the business agrees to work on the vehicle. VIOC store should have told the owner they could not provide him with the correct service and refused to work on it.
