Don't see much about Redline here. Why not?

Watching a few youtubes on Redline and reading posts on Reddit and people absolutely swear by the stuff. I've decided to give the 5w30 a try. Seems to be better than Amsoil based on what others are saying. Definitely isn't cheap but I ordered from FCP Euro. They don't seem to charge anything extra so if I don't like it I won't use it again but if I do like it , $18 a change moving forward for me (shipping), not bad.

It is a known quality. The question is what you get over approved oils. Redline is not approved (their performance series, their Professional series is just repackaged Kendall).
I used their gear stuff; it is an excellent product.

Keep in mind there are two different product streams for Redline:
1. Black bottle, which is just rebottled Kendall/P66 oil
2. White bottle, this is the "original" style Redline products, which have historically had a robust additive package and a PAO/Ester base oil blend

Guys with hemi's seem to feel it's what stops their tick. Just doing searching here don't exactly see much about it. See Amsoil all over and HPL mentioned a lot. Didn't know if there was a bad history somewhere.

There were some guys that hoped that it would prevent lifter failure, until it didn't, because of course it's a mechanical QC issue, something that can't be solved with an oil. Most HEMI's that tick do so because of leaking exhaust manifolds, this is incredibly common on the trucks.

That said, there's nothing wrong with Redline, it's generally regarded as a good oil, even if they are now owned by P66. The oils are generally heavy for their grade (their 5W-30 is like a heavy Euro 5W-30, close to a 5W-40 for example) with high HTHS, so just by virtue of being heavier, they may provide some "quieting".

I’ve used their white bottle full-SAPS 5W-30 in two vehicles. In the 2002 Subaru Impreza that had low mileage, it nearly doubled the 3/8 qt/1000 miles oil consumption that other synthetic oils caused. This was repeatable when I switched oils to/from RL multiple times. That engine burned oil from day 1 and there was something different about RL that had a large oil consumption effect. In the 2003 GTI, I stopped using it mostly due to cost and having to order it.

Amsoil SS certainly has more TBN and I suspect is better for long OCIs. Redline racing oil didn’t do very well in the Shell testing that they documented in their Shell racing oil patent. Valvoline VR1 and some others did better. That was many years ago and buster made a thread about it. Formulations change, so that situation might be different today.

I use their gear oils with much success. They work particularly well with the Ford limited slip additive. No chatter, no groaning. I would use their motor oils in a heartbeat if they were API certified. Perhaps when my warranty runs out.

I now use the oil as an additive of one qt to boost hths in the summer with their 5w30 and the 0w30 still in the winter as M1 0w30 doesnt holdup. Their Redline Si-1 Fuel system cleaner is still awesome and I still buy their Redline Non Slip CVT Fluid as I get free shipping and no tax.
