The car is worth what? And the guy was thinking what when he trusted Circuit City??

Butchered.

Circuit City should make good on this, hands down.....but why do I smell lawsuit....? Maybe it's his talking through his pallet...

This has been going around several car blogs in the past week. Since the BMW guy got his M3 for $60k, I guess the owner of this car wants to ride on the BMW buyer's viral interweb coattails.

There is no way they did $12k worth of damage. The "estimate" is fraudulent IMO. If I were CC I'd sick my attorneys on him and go toe-to-toe with this e-crook.

A would-be thief screwed up my wife's dash about that bad when they attempted (and failed) to steal her radio. They cut the wires all the way back in the dash (far enough back that I don't even know how they got to them), broke all the plastic surrounding it, somehow still did not manage to pull the radio all the way out, and gave up.

It looked bad and she drove around with a big empty hole in her dash for a while, but it was nowhere near $12k in damage. A new dash piece from the junkyard was about $20, a new radio was about $100 (they screwed up the wiring both internally and externally by pulling on it that it didn't work), and it took about a weekend of my time (had to re-wire everything, as the wiring to the speakers was completely toast).

fwiw, PepBoys cut the main wiring harness on mom's Corolla at the batt terminal to install one of their $.99c ones rather than clean the oem one. Car would stall out and die unexpectedly, yada yada.
