I have a ‘97 4Runner on the way, 3.4l. I can get the three filters listed in the title easily, with the Donaldson being $2.00 - 3.00 more, but none of them are particularly expensive. I’m leaning toward the Denso.

What would you choose and why?

I have never run Denso oil filters, but everything else that they make is, I think, among the best quality you can get. I only run their air filters in my cars and if I am replacing a part and Denso is an option, 99/100 times I am buying the Denso.

With that said, I have seen some here call OEM Toyota oil filters "rock catchers" and Denso could very well be the manufacturer for those like they are for many other Toyota OEM parts. On the other hand, if you say in the oil filter forum that the sun rises in the East there are guaranteed to be at least three posts arguing otherwise.

I have a ‘97 4Runner with the same engine. It has nearly 300k miles on it of which the past 250k have been from my use. Have used nothing but the OEM Toyota filter (YZZD1) purchased from Walmart with no issues. I believe the Denso equivalent is the same filter.
