Most Bassett Hounds primarily use their nose to move, eye usage for movement is supplemental.
Neighbors had a Basset hound and watching it waddle around gave me the impression the dogs were slow. 
It moves pretty good for a basset hound.
We lived in NZ in 2003/04. I thought the street looked very Kiwi, and was interested to see that it was in Kawakawa, not too far from where we were.
