or is it now all going to be synthetic blend... as i had bought a case of the stuff that i thought was regular Valvoline MaxLife 10w30 and it was really synthetic blend. The case doesn't not even say syn blend on it... but the individual bottles had the synthetic markings on it, but the case didnt???????

why is that?

out of curiosity, how is it just a marketing term? isnt durablend and maxlife and most other blends 30% syn and 70% dino.. to me, that would be a better 5k oci than conventional bc it has a lil group III in it.. dont you think it would hold up just a little better than most dinos?

Regular Maxlife isn't 30% synthetic. Just 12-22% per MSDS.

There isn't any lower limit on synthetic content to claim "synthetic blend". And there are other oils out there with group III or synthetic content that aren't labeled "synthetic blend".

That's why it is a marketing term.

Maxlife's synthetic component is PAO (Group IV). Durablend's is Group III. Maxlife also lists 300 ppm moly. I believe Maxlife is better than Durablend. It is certainly more robust (thicker, higher HTHS).
