Does Valovline Synpower meet Toyota standard?

Does Valvoline Synpower 0W20 meet the Toyota requirements for their 1 year/ 10,000 mile oil change interval? In the owner's manual it just mentions 0W-20 Synthetic 1 year/ 10,000 miles or 5w20 conventional 6 month/ 5,000 miles if 0W-20 is not available.

If the only spec is 0w-20 and synthetic, then yes, that's all you need.

Still, 10,000 miles may be pushing it if you're taking a lot of short trips, especially in the colder months. Make sure you take note of what constitutes severe service and adjust the maintenance schedule appropriately if you fall into that category.

You might consider Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20, which is guaranteed by Mobil for 10,000 miles. I've been using it for several oil changes in my 03'Ford Focus, and it works beautifully. It keeps my engine clean, and it runs smoothly and efficiently.

May I suggest you consider a Fram ULTRA filter (Walmart for under $9), which is guaranteed for 15K. This combination with Mobil 1 0w20 works beautifully for me, and it should for you as well.

I have 10 quarts of synpower 0w20 in my stash that I got at Vatozone for $3 a quart at the end of last year. I'm planning on using it for 7K/1 year, whatever comes first in our Toyota.

I've had 2 used oil analysis on my Tacoma using Mobil 1 0w20, and they were both pristine. Of course, it is a young engine. My wife's Odyssey is running Synpower 0w20 for the 1st time. I will do a used oil analysis upon changing it.

Toyota doesn't really have their own spec, like GM has dexos, Ford has WSS-M2C930-A, etc... Toyota says use API approved SN oil in the recommended grade. That's their spec. I've been using SynPower or NextGen SynPower for the last 50K miles in a Toyota Camry, Lexus GS and Lexus SC.

I know that for the 2AR-FE engine Toyota says using conventional will get you 5K miles and synthetic will get you 10K miles. (You'll have to manually reset the oil change reminder light midway, which is what I do). That's all the specifics they give. Despite Valvoline not being a long-drain oil, works fine. I've done a few used oil analysis, TBN is shot at the end of 10K, as one would expect, but other than that it's fine. I mean you're throwing the oil out anyway, is having a TBN of 4.5 remaining after 10K miles really valuable?

You just gotta love manual wording like that. What makes an oil synthetic by Toyota's standard? Wording on the bottle? SN/GF-5 is readily defined and enforced. "Synthetic" is hard enough to define, and more difficult to enforce. If the writers mean an SN/GF-5 Group IV or V, well, good luck with that one.
