Does Firestone usually discount the Lifetime Alignment for Black Friday / Cyber Monday?

Opinion incoming.

Unless you routinely drive on moon crater roads (IE you northern salt belt people....or Louisiana I reckon), and have abnormal tire wear, there is no reason to touch your alignment on a regular basis.

And....

Firestone shops, in general, employ people barely able to read the graphs on a balance machine, let alone do a good alignment.

Find a good local alignment shop, have your car aligned properly, and no that doesn't mean 'just get it in the green and go', and then leave it alone unless there are circumstances that dictate looking at it again.

Buying that alignment means you're in for a lifetime of attempting getting something from them for the money you already spent.

Alignments are both art and science. If for example your struts don't have elongated holes at the knuckles, Firestone will declare them "not adjustable" for camber, even though you can easily file the holes, use cam bolts, or do something creative with the top mounts. Do you want this fight?

Mine doesn’t do “lifetime” alignments any more … one time alignment or something like a 3 year alignment agreement that ends after 3 years. Mine is really good if you have 3.5 wheels and need the clunker to try to at least drive straight-ish. They guy angle-ground the holes bigger so he could make it work, but a lot of effort in, and went above and beyond. But for a picky vehicle like an accord with low profile wheels, I might go elsewhere.

If so, it won't be their best alignment discount. While it is not as hearty a discount as it was pre-pandemic, Firestone's best price on the lifetime alignment service is on New Year's Day only. I believe it was a $40 off coupon last New Year's Day.

I am of the same opinion.

The Firestone lifetime alignment is a scam. A customer will buy it and then when they go for an alignment they will claim you need control arms, tie rods - whatever and won't do the alignment unless the work is done. I have had more customers come to us then I can count for that same scam there. Any shop that works off of a commission basis with sales goals is most likely going to be a rip off. They place their employees in a position to sell unnecessary services to make their pay.

There is a secret to know if you need an alignment... Get down on the ground and look at your tires.
Also, after an axle replacement, accident, or similar, you probably need it checked.

I got the lifetime alignment got our 2006 TSX. Probably used it 5+ times over the years. Super deal, IMO.

Firestone sucks, but this complaint isn't fair. Most Japanese cars really don't have adjustable camber, and that comes from the mfrs themselves.

The only Japanese cars I know of that even have adjustable camber are some Subarus with a cam bolt on the bottom strut hole.

For example, Toyota says that if it's out of spec, something needs to be replaced.

You can't blame Firestone for following mfr guidelines.

I've had one not honor the 1-year "warranty" on my previous focus because they said it had backup sensors and/or BSM; mine did not - only a backup camera. The one I went to after that didn't do that but never could match the toe so I always had to bring it back to them a second time. Third firestone kept messing up the alignment on my cx5; to the point where I went to the dealership for an alignment after a Firestone alignment. The firestone alignment was all over the place and the printout did not match the dealership. Haven't needed an alignment since and the car isn't twitchy anymore.

(for pics below, compare firestone after vs dealership before.)
