Does anyone use Comma.ai to control their car?

I posted a tangentially related question a few weeks ago and got crickets.

I've been here for several years and I can't believe it. This is an automobile enthusiasts forum. There has to be at least one other person here who has this system installed in their car, right?

Just wondering if anyone here has even heard of it, and what y'all think.

I've heard of it, but driving is one of my enjoyments in life, so I have no need for it. I prefer analog when it comes to the motoring experience.

Basically, interfaces with the steering/braking/engine system of a car and with the addition of a camera mounted near your rearview mirror adds 'autopilot' to your vehicle.

Gonna dig this old thread up, because this deal is gaining momentum. They are up to supporting 275+ vehicles.

I found this on one of the F150 Lightning forums, my XLT did not come with adaptive cruise, but I was looking for ways to retrofit it, which apparently others found the Ford factory sensors and harnesses to do it. Retrofitting adaptive cruise to a Pro or XLT lighting does not include the hands off BlueCruise and apparently that can't even be retrofitted. But then I found a different thread about OpenPilot.

When Consumer Reports rated ADAS systems in 2020 they rated Comma 2 #1. And now Comma 3 is the current system, and OpenPilot has many more revisions under it's belt.

I have watched numerous videos of this system in action and it seems to work really well. I don't know if I'm in at $1099 for the Comma 3 and it's harness, plus $700+ for the required Ford sensors and harnesses to enable adaptive cruise, but if it goes down in price in the future, I would strongly consider it.

It would probably be a stronger consideration on my wife's Mach-E Premium, because it already has ACC and BlueCruise and thusly the required sensors already in place. BlueCruise is subscription after 3 years and if we want to keep the car off lease and keep hands off functionality, this would be a one-time purchase option.

Bump this up because even though I like driving hands on in town, a auto pilot on the interstate would be awesome.

I hear all cars will have this tech in the future and your insurance premiums might go up if you decide not to use them..
