does anyone know who makes advanced motor oil?

A new advanced auto store opened up in my area and they have there own store brand of oil does anyone know who makes the oil for them? It's $0.99 a quart

I don't know, but Advance Auto Parts is having a sale for 2 more days on name-brand conventional oil that includes oil plus a filter for a very good price.

Others have said that Walmart SuperTech conventional oil is made by ExxonMobil in some parts of the country.

When I asked the young kid behind the counter at my AAP many moons ago, I got a canned answer: "We make all our own stuff." ("Stuff" being the operative word here.)

Really? AAP makes their own filters? Lubes? Brake cleaner? Carb cleaner? Hair spray? Toilet paper? Incents? ... Come on, now; are they that hard-up for hired help?

I have a suspicion that it might be handled similar to the Wal-Mart products, using the nearest least-cost bidder? But I have absolutely zero proof at this point to back it up. Wal-mart is national, however AAP is only regional (mostly a East coast / Midwest operation with little to nothing out west). I don't know if AAP has a sister operation that would enlarge the product purchasing power.

Usual guess is either WPP or Warren Unilube.

Yup, they slap their own label on everything.

Just keep in mind their regular (non high mileage) oil in 10w30, 5w30 and 5W-20 are the ones with SM and GF-4. Rest of the stuff are SL. So for those who dig SL there is also a choice.
