2024 Ram 2500. 6.4L Hemi with 8 SPD.

I can use the gear paddels to downshift, and I can set a top gear limit, but there is no way to shift up manually. How is this done on dodge?

Fords if you want to upshift early to save RPM, you can by placing the lever in "M" and then use a + or - button.

On my 1500, you'd have to raise the limit for each gear using those steering wheel buttons on the lower right.

You'd think you could just change gears up or down with the buttons, rather than limiting the top gear you'll allow. It's useful for longer downhill grades, or when towing to keep revs up if you don't want to use tow/haul mode (because it hangs onto gear too long otherwise).

Basically, there's no clear cut easy way and it's not really designed to be a manual shift workaround, just to limit which gear you're in.

My Jeep has the paddle shifters on the wheel for up/down and you say paddles, but I assume you don't actually have these, right?

Hit the + button and it will show which gear it is in. Then push it again to go to the next higher gear unless it is already in 8th. In that event it will go back to “D”. With the programming Ram uses for the transmission, it may go up a gear and may not according to the rpm and load on the engine.

I'm likely misunderstanding the question, but having owned two Ram 1500's with the dail-shifter 8spds, you can upshift "manually", but the programming won't let you upshift too quickly or beyond what the TCM wants you to go. Understandable so.
