Dodge caliber

And you guys are forgetting the Caliber is available with a full on SRT treatment as the SRT4.

Different strokes for different folks. Some of us don't want ALL the character refined out of the car.

Caliber sales would seem to indicate that it is a fairly decent package. Not a world beater, but cheap and useful.

Nahh....I didn't forget.

I still say I have the original SRT/4 hatchback.

My friend has one in the '10 SXT w/ cvt flavor. I co-piloted with him on a trip to Montreal from Philly. My thoughts of the car is not favorable. On the highway, ride and noise is worse than my 01 Celica, a stiff suspensioned sporty car. Road noise was louder and there was a banshee-like howl from the wind coming from somewhere, even with all the windows rolled up as tight as possible.

At an average of 80mph 90% highway and no traffic, it averaged 19 MPG. Combined with a laughably tiny gas tank at 13.6 gallons, stops for fuel were annoyingly frequent.

Thanks; I'll use that next time Nick tells me my CR-V has too much road noise.

However, the passenger window lowered itself an inch while on the highway, not too bad, but when you are at 70mph, and it is in the 30's (F) outside it is not pleasant. After 3 miles it raised itself back up (window button did nothing to help). When I got my briefcase off the passenger seat, and shut the door, the window cycled the same 1" -12 times. I returned that car to Hertz, and they gave me a Mustang which was a better experience.

I want to give Chrysler the benefit of the doubt, but these experiences turn me away. Most problems I get with rentals are abuse related, not like this example.

The CVT in my Subaru does this depending on the load and acceleration.

Accelerating lightly from a stop on a flat surface is a prime example. It's like it advances quickly to a higher range, then continues slowly and steadily as needed.

I haven't been able to detect the sensation of torque converter locking/unlocking on mine. Can't see in on the tach either.

It was sensing that the door was open for some reason. Bad Switch?

Mercedes Benz Convertibles also automatically lower the window about a half an inch when you open the door.

my Caliber has been good- i knew i wasn't buying a high end car. just a car i wouldn't worry about, but could haul a bike, groceries, give me 30 mpg. All Achieved!!!!!

Father has an 07, gets mid 20's on all local driving.

We took it on long trip, 4 adults plus luggage, got about 31 mpg.

Now his is a low grade 16K$ 2.0 FWD CVT. Has pwr wdws, locks, 4whl abs, sunroof, cruise tilt, decent stereo, alloy wheels.

MIL has 08 corrolla, paid 19K, no sunroof, no cruise, no tilt and interior IMHO is worse. Assuming equal mpg and relaiblity I would take the caliber. Have driven both and Caliber has more guts and rides nicer.

my Caliber SXT gets 30mpg. No problems there!!!!! i'm unsure what everyone complains about except that they join the bandwagon and bash these cars unnecessarily

i use 5w20 conventional, purolator classic filter, add a touch MMO, and clean purolator or fram air filter. car has given me 30 mpg highway
