I have a Dodge with a 2.7 v6 engine, and it has 140,300 miles on it. The oil filler cap calls for 5w20. I have some Valvoline Durablend that is 5w30. With warmer weather coming in (I hope anyway), it should be OK to run the 5w30, correct?
I believe starting in 2005 most Chrysler 2.7l switched from 5w30 to 5w20. a friends 06 says 5w20 n my 07 does as well, its at almost 150k rite now no problems, knock on wood. I have used a 30 grade in summer though if much cheaper
It would be interesting to know if there was any engineering change to the 2.7 that allowed the use of the thinner 5-20 oil, or if Chrysler was just looking for a minute increase in their average fleet gas mileage?
