No. Just start and go.

I think so, but only in terms of safety. I don't like backing out of driveways/parking spots. Backing in is fine, since you had a clear view of it during the approach.quote:

Is it a good idea to back into my driveway?
I dunno, but I bet it warms up quicker with the parking brake on and in Drive...quote:

Along the same lines, my dad said to me many years ago that the trans warms up quicker when in Neutral rather than Park. Any truth to this?
I thought it was a sickness but I now see that I have friends that are just as sick as me. I have never mentioned my thoughts on this to another living person. I thought plenty of times "you are sick" now I come to BITOG and see the exact thing I had thought of. It's so nice to know I not alone in the world.quote:
Actually I heard that it's better for an auto transmission if you back in while the transmission is warm/hot and drive out in drive while it's cold. It's better for transmission.
I don't know, All My vehicles drop the idle right before the transmission is engaged. I don't know if it a function of the ECU and the ECT working in concert or some kind of programming but the only time I can shift at high idle is if I pull the master fusable link(100 amp).quote:

Dropping the trans into gear while on high idle does not seem too great. Backing in prior to cold mornings is probally a good idea. Our manual is a bit stiff during the 1-2 shift in cold conditions despite the RP GearMax. We start out in 2nd gear for the first run of the day during cold conditions.
