I turn the bottles upside down and give a good shake for a couple seconds just out of habit I guess. I also let them drain for about 5 minutes each.

I put the oil through a medical centrifuge, so as to remove all of the contaminants before use....wait, are those the additives?

If the add pack OR the base oil is crappy enough that they separate in the bottle, I want no part of that oil.
I never saw any Case #1 separate, even in the 55-gal drums I used to get it in. If it did, you'd have a bunch of tractors out there running with either mostly additives or mostly base oils because the drums (and bulk containers) just sit there. Also, the tractors would lose all their additive after sitting through the winter. There isn't THAT much agitation in the pan of an MX-270, and I never burned it or the 7140 or the 4440 up.
IMO this is an old wives' tale like the one about synthetics making motors leak like sieves. It may have been based on poor quality items from the past, but I don't buy it for a moment in a decent quality oil these days.

Also, be sure to remove the corks - er, caps - from the bottles about ten minutes before pouring. This allows the oil to breathe.
