There are some things I like and others I don't one of the WORST aspect of newer models is the high belt line of the passenger compartment and the lack of larger windows, it's like you are sitting in the gun turret of a tank.

As you can see, you can see everything around you. Little to no blind spots. Not only that, there was still some class. White wall tires, chrome bumpers and trim, and wire caps. No goofy center console, and you could actually sit three people in front.

I want to find a mint low mileage Oldsmobile like that SOOOO bad!! One of the best cars ever made imo. They were made so good that they almost felt over-engineered. They were insanely precision!! The two door ones were really rare. My aunt had an '89 model 98 Regency that was black w/black leather, sunroof, totally loaded to the hilt. Wish I had that car!

This is a nice Toyota. From 1982 no less.

Yes its a first generation Toyota Supra known then as the Celica Supra. Its not mine but it is a nice example. The Celica Supra was a descendant of the Toyota 2000GT, another really nice car Toyota built.

Its been many years since Toyota penned a nice body. Toyota really did it right at one time, a wonderful small displacement straight 6 that was smooth as glass.

When I saw the 2016 Maxima for the first time, I was repulsed. I say they added curves to the car simply to add as many curves as possible. It was like they took a bunch of random arcs and turned them into a car.

Current styling seems to take precedence over function, which IMO makes for an ugly car..

Cars whose look is solely as a consequence of extensive aero testing, such as the legendary Ferrari F40, are to me the most attractive of all cars. (excluding open wheel 'formula' cars)

Not so much. It's a bit too aggressive for my taste. I always liked rounded styling in automobiles. Functionality with a touch of style, that's class.

Quite frankly it's not something I waste my time obsessing over. I really don't care about how new vehicles look, and after writing this I won't care again.

I think they are making the cars as strange as possible for attention

I must say, I'm a fan of the new styling direction. Even the "new" Lexus spindle grill, L-finesse styling! I'm purposely looking at those cars post facelift, just so I can get the new grill. Clearly, looks are a subjective matter. However, in the case of Lexus, there sales have continued going up, the new grill has had no effect, or rather no significant effect. The old geezers who used to drive them, will be gone sooner or later!

Some look Ok; Tesla, Audi, Jag, Maserati, Porsche all make good looking cars.

Buick and Chevy have a few that look decent, and the new Mustang looks very good.

Mazda has been cranking out some good designs.

Most Japanese cars are ugly as sin these days, I don't know what kind of mushrooms the designers at Lexus are on.

The new Jag F Type is very good looking.

From most angles, it's hard to tell the difference between a big Audi, Tesla, Jag or Maserati sedan.
These designs will age very badly and will look laughable in ten or maybe even five years time.
The current Mustang is yet one more variation on the hackneyed retro theme, as is the current Camaro.
The new Jag F Type is a looker, but I'm not sure how well that look will age. Certainly not as well as the Series III sedans of old or the E Type, both of which still look great.

It's part of the reason why so many people are buying SUV's.

IDK if you look at 10-15 year old versions of those cars they all still look good, except the Tesla it hasn't been out as long.

The Audi other than the grill hasn't really changed a whole heck of a lot. Most people would think a super clean 2000 vintage A8 is pretty new.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While this example may/may not be "functional"-it is one "bland mobile" IMHO.

That Buick that Trav posted-one beautiful car!
