Funny thing about giving away your 10k Mobil One. Back in the 1970's, when M1 first came out, one of the magazines like Popular Science or Popular Mechanics did a long article on the new synthetic oil. Among other things, they said that synthetic oil was as good at 10,000 miles as regular oil was brand new.
This was probably so, as my M1, which I began using as soon as it came out, was usually changed at one year intervals (for me, 19-20,000) up until I retired back in 2001 and my annual mileage was reduced to about 10,000. Never had any kind of an engine problem in all those years, and my engines stayed very quiet even at 140,000 miles, which was about as long as I ever kept a car or truck.
My most recent oil change, in October of 2009, was an OCI of 9117 miles, in my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. No top-off oil had been required, and it was about one third of a quart low. It was M1 High Mileage 10W30. I replaced it with M1 0W30, which I had a $10 coupon for. The oil still looked great, but I had 11 months on it and I wanted to try the 0W30.
