Do Ford dealers already have it, too?

I saw the "new" MC 5w30 (SM) bottles at W-Mart yesterday...This will be my next "winter" oil for the 4.6L T-bird, to celebrate 100k trouble-free miles it has given me.(passed emitions with no prob's on the same day it turned 100k)

As I normally get my OC's at a/the Ford dealer, I was wondering: Do Ford dealers already have the new syn.blend MC 5/30? or do they stil have old ones? How can I be sure that they've already switched to the "new" MC 5/30?

any ideas?

Bottled oil generally takes much longer to sell in a dealer than bulk oil given price differences. If it's been in the distribution channel for a few months, then maybe. If not, then you may not see it at the dealer for a while. I suggest you bring your own oil in so that you know what's being put into your engine. Assuming they remember to put your oil in...

When I bought my MC SM at Walmart last Friday they had SL on the front of the shelf. Walmart sells a bunch of it so I would not be suprised if your dealer still has some to use up.

This is what bitog has done to me...

I guess I'll have to find d dealer who'll accept my "brought in" oil...

You guys are nuts!

BTW, don't you think that the recent SL oils were formulated to meet SM? The SM switchover was long overdue. Notice how recent SL oils had 800 ppm P rather than the 1000 allowed by SL. Also notice how the newer 5W30/5W20 MC SL oils suddenly had "hydrocracked" component blended in, very common in GF-4 oils.
