DIY Car Wash Places

Got my car first week of july and haven't washed it yet. I think I remember it was white. I did remove bird poo from it a few times but now it just gets covered in brown muck anyway. I hope the weathr gets a bit better soon, I'll give it a rinse then.

That is another thing to be cautious of this time of year. Many of these self serve car washes use filtered, recycled water. If you live in an area that uses road salt, wet your finger and give it a taste, before turning it loose on your vehicle.

Back when I was living in Illinois, in over half of those places, you were washing your car with reclaimed salt water. I've never been to a car wash since we moved to Az. Perhaps they've improved since then.

ALL car washes use recycled water...they have to, in order to may any money at all. I worked at one in the 1970s while in high school and it reclaimed water. I have no idea what sort of filtration they use now, but we only filtered for particulates, as that was damaging to the pumps and nozzles on the equipment. I believe the final rinse was always fresh water.

The nicer automatic washes (I would presume) would use car other filtration to remove salt and chemicals, as that would be very damaging to their washing equipment. I work in the medical industry and we even filter and treat tap water due to its damaging effects on our equipment.

My DIY car wash place is the driveway. Two buckets and a hose. I have tried the wand wash places but it never gets clean enough for me.
