I've been losing air in my LF tire for months monitoring it using the TPMS readout in the gage cluster and topping it off with my garage compressor. I've also had to add air to the LR occasionally. Found a bolt in the LF so took it to DT, made an appointment for 12:45 PM and had them check both tires. Turns out both had punctures. They repaired and rebalanced both for no charge and had me out in under an hour. Keep in mind these tires were not purchased at DT (this was my dad's car and at the time DT wasn't in the area he lives). This is why I will only buy tires at DT, always a great experience.

Never bought from them, but same experience at Costco. Just recently had one of them cool green valve caps split. Asked a tech for a new one, and he handed me 4. The times we needed a free repair, same thing, patch from inside, rebalance, no charge.

Another good test of a shop would be if the tires wear out before the mileage warranty. This happened on 2 sets of Premier LTX (their premature wear out is all over the web). Costco handled warranty replacements with ease. I bet Discount Tire would too.

I had a set of Pirelli tires wear out prematurely and they generously pro rated them towards a new set. Surprisingly many years ago they online price matched a set of Toyo R888 tires for my Mazda rx-7 race car. I doubt they'll do that now. Always had great customer service experience from them.

Had a set of Nokian nAT LT tires put on my truck by them. I made an appt online and went in, they had a white board out front with my name on it for the bay it was going to go in. I was also getting my 5 year old out of the truck and they came outside to meet me and get the keys so they could get working on it. That's pretty awesome.

Enticed by this thread, I went to their website.
There I learned the nearest DT is ~80 mi. away with two more at ~90 mi.
I called the Help Number and asked about services like flat fixing and mileage warranty claims.

The very alert sounding rep told me they bought TireRack and that they ship tires to them but offered no such services.
She then continued speaking in an unclear manner which left me confused.
All I could do was end the conversation.

However, in light of your praise, I called the number again and see if the message changed.
I got another alert sounding rep who affirmed that all I could do is buy from TireRack (which they, DT, bought) and go about whatever mounting steps I had to but I'd get no services.
When I asked if a plain "online order" would cost less than one done at a brick and mortar shop, he said he had no idea.

I have no doubt DT gave y'all great service. The conversation with the reps left me flat.

Sister company America's Tire tried to screw me out of a $200 tire. Hit a pothole, and pinched the tire. The tire in question was two months old, purchased at this local store. They told me that it's customer pay, which I did. Went home, and did a little research, realizing the Continental tires I bought came with a road hazard warranty. Went back, talked to the staff, and they said no. Had to escalate to the manager, who agreed with me, and reimbursed my money.

I'd use them again, but they are like most other repair shops, looking to make money. It's the customers responsibility to know your rights, they may or may not try to help you.

Yep, I’m 45 miles to one in either direction …
I tend to order the tires and book an appointment …
Prefer the one in the smaller town* - but, both are decent …
*less turn over of staff …

Don't get me wrong. I'll drive a bit for better service or to patronize a better company.
I've said for years that our purchases are the only 'true votes' we get to cast.

A 180 mile drive for tires is a bit much.

Years ago I bought 4 tires from an old man and a European repair shop near me mounted and balanced them EXPERTLY.
Perhaps I should count my blessings and just go there?

Your phone experience does not surprise me. I have gotten weird answers from DT. And mistakes. Things happen. What they are good at is installing and fixing tires. No one is good at everything.

They might have different pricing online vs in store. No idea why - different set of competitors I assume. However if you order online at DT you can have them delivered in store, and the DT online will price match any major online competitor via email. I sent them a link to a sale, they replied with a special check out link and I got the price and delivered to store.

We did not have DT here a few years ago. The only reason I ended up there to begin with was my vibrating tires and they were the only ones with a Hunter Road Force Balancer. After being through that there is no way I would accept a weight only balance. I would drive the 80 miles one way - without a doubt.
