Discount Tire, Entry Level Tire

I just went and looked this up, had no idea they did this. It's a great idea for someone on a budget, allows DT to use their buying power to find deals and not have to worry about promising a specific make/model.

Please report back in once you find out what you bought. Seems that they could use this to move a tire that they have too much of sitting in their inventory.... or just to move more of their Mohave/Sentury/Rocky Mountain tire lines.

I checked a few tire sizes for vehicles that I have in the garage, and for me, it seems to be a $10 a tire discount off of whatever the cheapest tire is that they normally stock.

Just noticed how their "Rocky Mountain HT2" tire has the same exact tread pattern as the Milestar Patagonia H/T. Amazing how that works, LOL.

Usually, AT/DT will push Sentury or Mohave as their “cheap” tires.

I’ve seen a tile for WestLake on DT’s intranet at my local store. TireRack now carries Advanta, so there’s a good change their mystery tire is one of those.

On Discount tire's website they have a low cost tire labeled Entry Level. You can only order it on-line. Then when you go in to have it installed you find out who made the tire. I ordered 2 for my 2007 Malibu I will get them installed Monday. $187.75 out the door.
I had my Discount Tire entry level tires installed today. They were Sailun Atrezzo SH408 DOT 0526. The Discount invoice just says Entry Touring All Season.

I imagine they will do pretty well for you, Sailun has had a testing centre in near Toronto for a few years now and seems committed to making good tires as well, not just cheap tires.

The 2007 Beetle that my two girls drove while at university..We were going to sell it as it's been mostly sitting for years. Installed Phantom HRX 205/55/16 V rated 50,000 mile warranty from Americas/Discount Tire. When they first came out with the AAA discounts at the time they were $56 each plus mounting etc. Since then my wife has been driving the Beetle more, putting on over 4,000 miles. Tires are smooth, balanced well, quiet and did fine in the little rain we have had, I was pleasantly surprised. Made by Omni United out of Singapore who makes Radar tires. These were made in Thailand. At the original price they were and are a no brainer. As prices rise then there are more options...but are worth a look IMO. Plus they look good ;)

You see a "04N" right after the DOT on the side of the tire ?

I don't know if its exactly entry level but I put a couple of the Mohave tires from DT on the CX5. They seem to be a quality product.

Tire says Made In Thailand on side wall

04N PRINX CHENGSHAN TIRE (THAILAND) CO., LTD

Yeah.. 04N.. made by Prinx tire which is what I was seeing when I was researching your tires.

..and also I have mostly seen praise for this manufacturer as I have researched a few of their models before and read through quite a bit of reviews.

Interesting marketing strategy.

If I plugged my tire size into walmart and sorted by price, I'd reject 80% of the named no-name tires that come in on the first page of results. There are a couple diamonds in the rough I'd go for: Kumho, Armstrong.

DT surely has some sort of satisfaction guarantee that lessens this fear, uncertainty, doubt.

Reminds me of the "Managers choice" option I use almost every time I rent a car to save money. I have yet to be disappointed. They just give me what they have sitting there, usually a small to mid size car, but I once got a RAM crew cab.
