Discontinued: Chevy Malibu

It's just a name they slapped on their mid-size generic people mover. And they weren't even made between 1984 and 1996. Maybe it will return in another 12 years after this SUV fad dies down.
Yes, probably as the Malibu-ev.

I liked the 2.0T Premier but the 1.5T is 😴

No one wants a sedan anymore, including myself.
That’s the only thing I own,

3 sedans/coupes , 1 ratty truck.

People bother me to replace my crashed Volt with a new vehicle but I see nothing on the market I want to own.

Trucks, CUVs and SUVs are all boring and useless to me.

The Malibu was already available with the Voltec system that should have never discontinued

My XT4 is 5" shorter than the 2023 Integra I had previously. It has more interior space, more cargo space, ride height is "chair height" so I'm not falling into it and climbing out. I can seat 4 adults comfortably in the XT4, and if I fold the rear seats down I have a ton of cargo capacity. The small CUV just makes sense from a packaging standpoint.

The most advanced and glorious steam locomotives were developed and put into service in the last 10 years of the steam era, before they were replaced by diesel electrics.
General Motors should do the same. It should revive the Chevelle as a muscle car. Give it a 6.2 liter V8, an 8 speed auto or a 6 speed manual, and active suspension.

I bet a well performing "non luxury" high performance sedan of that size would sell to those enthusiasts looking for one last high performance ICE along the lines of the Pontiac GTO, the Plymouth Roadrunner, and, of course, the high performance Chevelles of 55 years ago.

While I love that idea, current GM management does not have the courage/risk to do this. I about fell off my chair when they announced they were committing to next gen v8's for trucks and suvs but that's as far as they're going to go.

The car is what it is. Mine has been trouble free with the 2.0 LTG turbo. Just passed 110,000 miles and have done regular oil changes, brakes, spark plugs and one broken exhaust manifold bolt (which seems to not be an issue on any of the other 2.0 LTGs).

I think I am going to replace the vacuum pump proactively as it seems they will fail around 120,000 to 150,000. It is 60 bucks and 40 mins for my car.

Not the pinnacle of automotive excellence, but the 2.0 turbo is pretty good and motivates the car well (252 HP and 295 ft/lbs of torque), gets decent gas mileage and is quiet. Fully loaded (LTZ) I paid 24,900 for it back in 2015. One thing I can say about it is I am not worried about having to take it to the dealer to get an engine replaced. I am picking it before a few different brands out there every time.

My co-worker has two and loves them. I am sad to see any sedan go, pickings are slim already.
At least the new 2025 Camry seems to be a decent vehicle, to keep the segment alive. . The reviewers are even VERY Kind to even the FWD version. I watched one being hustled quite briskly on a California fun road, to the point of tires screaming for mercy.

We had one of these growing up with an anemic 305...that is what I picture when I hear Malibu Classic...

So no Ford or Chevy or Chrysler compact/mid sized sedan. Shocking!

The rental malibu's I have driven (over a decade ago) slaughtered any Camry in proper car-ness.

What has this market come to?

Left the segment to furrin companies. At least they are building the Sonata, Optima and Camry stateside.

Just recalled no plain vanilla GOLF either. Mama !

People buy into the reliability legacy from the late 80's and ignore proper car-ness cause they don't even know what that is.

But Honda and Toy know where their bread is buttered and put forward a modicum of effort into the segment.

I am upset beyond words, first George dying on Young Sheldon last night and now ... this !
