Digital torque wrench accuracy

Kids bought me the digital torque wrench for Christmas. Came today and been trying to figure out how to use it. I was curious on how accurate it was compared to my HF one .

I took about 20 pills between 60 to 120 pounds . Out of all the pills the max difference was 2.1 pounds . Most of the time it's was around 1 pound.

Of course my HF one could be wrong also so this test is flawed .

In a previous post I now get why people like the clicker more. One must be mindful of the beeps of it easy to over torque something by a few pounds

I will probably keep it around as just another tool in the arsenal

When I was a young mechanic , I bought a cheap Great Neck torque wrench and managed to snap an oil pan bolt. It was far off.

The digital version will actually teach you better technique. It is a natural human tendency to give a little extra pull at the end of turning the fastener. This happens even with a clicker wrench, you just don't see the extra torque applied like with the digital wrench. Human error is part of the +/- 25% accuracy of the torque process that engineers talk about on their forums.

I got this one

TAGVIT 1/2 Inch Drive Digital Torque Wrench, (14.75-295 ft-lbs./20-400 Nm) Digital Torque Wrench Electronic Torque Wrench with Buzzer and LED Flash Notification for Bike Motorcycle Car Maintenance https://a.co/d/fC4X08M

I hook the big one and the small one together . Then I clamp the extension in a vise and pull . It's the same way I check my 1/2 inch clickers . One clicker is off 5 pounds at the 80 pounds . I will have someone weld a socket to some square tubing someday so I can get rid of the extension
