After poking around here about supertech, I just put supertech GL-5 75W-90 in wife's Subaru.. Under 6 bucks a quart. at WM.
The diff is still there 2 weeks later! Most trust Valvoline or Pennzoil for this stuff.
AZ should have Valvoline semi or Full Synthetic diff oil under 9 bucks a qt. So fo r a service done only opnce or twice in a vehicle's life not a budget buster.
Gear oil is not magic, most known good brands should do the trick.
Now GL-4/GL-5 MT lube for synchromesh transmissions is a whole other bucket of worms.
Nissan service put HD80W90 GL-5 in my Rogue at 36K miles and I hated the stuff in the winter.
Nissan Factory lube was non problematic, the new Mobil stuff not so, Just one car and one data point so not statistically valid I suppose but enough for me to shy away from bulk Mobil HD gear oil.
