REcently on a trip to WalMart to pickup ATF for my mom's '03 Altima I noticed Castrol Multivehicle ATF which explicitly stated on the back of the bottle that it can be used amongst others in Nissan applications calling for Matid-D and Matic-J. Yet still I chose Mobil 1 lured by it low pour point -55F or -48C. I then logged onto www.mobilusa.com to find out that the only synthetic ATF offered is Mobil 1 multivehicle fluid, the canadian website shows "Mobil 1 synthetic ATF" same bottle and almost same label on the picture, checked the physical properties and they were the same i.e. pour point viscosity, viscosity index, the Brookfield test and all that. The canadian ATF is only bottled in Canada but blended in the US, so what gives???
Can anyone please shed some light I am totally bamboozzeled all I really want I guess is a Matic-D equivalent in synthetic flavour (the low pour point especially in winter)
Would canadian and US ATFs be the same??
