Previously used a Bosch cabin air filter on my Buick - good fit , good filtration . Happened to be at NAPA and tried a NAPA gold cabin air filter - awful fit , buckled badly (even with careful install) . Lesson learned is if you have a awkward cabin filter to install and find a good brand that works good for you previously ... stay with it !

Amen to that! I made the mistake of mail-ordering a cheap no-name CAF for my Santa Fe awhile back. Total no-go. The fit was way off even though the place insisted it was a direct fit for my make/model. Had to send it back.

Paid about 2.5x the price for one at Carquest. It fit perfectly. I'll be vacuuming this one off for a few years.

NAPA Gold is identical to OEM in terms of filtering media in my case (even the same number of pleats), just slightly inferior in terms of construction otherwise (a little less foam padding around the front where the filter slides in). Read my comparison here.

you can get a 5layer or 2 layer now.. one has carbon etc in it.

My subaru says every year or 7500miles...lol Its getting the shop vac at those intervals.. My hyundai wasnt even dirty at 18000miles.

Its a 5min job... they want something amazingly high for it..(like 79$) I'll pass on that

from the manual
Air filtration system
Replace the filter element according to the
replacement schedule as follows. This
schedule should be followed to maintain
the filter’s dust collection ability. Under
extremely dusty conditions, the filter
should be replaced more frequently. It is
recommended that you have your filter
checked or replaced by your SUBARU
dealer. For replacement, use only a
genuine SUBARU air filter kit.
Replacement schedule:
Every 12 months or 7,500 miles (12,000
km) whichever comes first
