I expected that too but it's the same price after checking. About the same as the duralast platinum but with an extra year which makes it worth it.The cost of these batteries most likely increased accordingly.
Autozone has a 4 year EFB flooded battery in some group sizes.4 years? it's on my list now. The 3 year warranty on the duralast platinum stinks. One recently just lasted me only 2 months beyond the warranty. Had to unhappily lighten the wallet at AZ thinking i would get it covered.
Yeah, but that was designed to be loaded, most people didn't hold onto cars that long and up north the cars would all be rusted away before you'd really need to replace the battery more than once or so. Once rust proofing improved and cars got fuel injection and mechanical ignition went away computer-controlled machining became the norm and cars began lasting so much longer, and then the economics of trading up constantly were no longer there, the lifetime battery warranty became a completely impractical thing to offer, I don't think batteries have gotten any worse than they were 40-50 years ago, it's just cars have more and more parasitic electronic also they keep using smaller and smaller batteries just to get that slight edge on CAFE.Back in 1967, (when they were first introduced), every Sears Die Hard battery sold came with a LIFETIME warranty. (Just like their Craftsman Tools). Now they advertise a 4 year warranty, and people get excited. We're getting groomed to become used to crap.

"In its earliest years, the brand was guaranteed to last, "forever." That is, as long as the original owner still owned the car in which it was originally installed."
The problem is that door swings back with more force than it opens. Many older carbureted vehicles at that time were notoriously difficult to start.Yeah, but that was designed to be loaded, most people didn't hold onto cars that long and up north the cars would all be rusted away before you'd really need to replace the battery more than once or so. Sears sold both the Craftsman Tool line, (to Stanley / Black & Decker), as well as the Die Hard battery lineup, (to Advance Auto Parts) before they tanked. The quality of both degraded somewhat after the sale.... As the guarantees of both diminished accordingly...... I forgot all about DieHard when I thought that anything SEARS went out of business......
If you are already paying for a Sam's Club or Costco membership, their battery prices are a good bit lower than the parts stores.Platinum AGM isn't covered
There's no Platinum 96R
Coupon Codes no longer work on batteries
I'm not buying batteries at AAP, that's for sure![]()
Add a zero.... $200 MILLION.The Die Hard name went for a cool $20 million.
From Pennsylvania up into the northeast most Walmart batteries are sourced from East Penn, although in the OPs case since they live in NYC, I'm not sure if Walmart is the best place to get a battery since they're not in the city and I could imagine the ones closest to the city probably get hit up pretty hard during a cold snap where you may have to travel a good distance into NJ to find a Walmart with a replacement in stock.Still much better deal at China mart - both appear to be made by JCI?
