My daughter cracked her radiator on 2008 Jetta 2.5 then drove 2-3 miles no traffic and parked it for 1 1/2 hours. Then she drove home. Didnt see lights or hear the buzzer. I put a a new radiator and drove about 100 miles, 60% highway and 40% locally . Oil looks normal, the antifreeze in reservoir is clean, no radiator cap. Car idles fine fine Do you think it is ok? When do you think she is out of the danger zone on this? A radiator in a jetta is not a fun job

I think you are fine, changing the oil just in case it got extra hot would be my only concern.

Good Luck

You are the man changing the radiator out on that car! I could never do it.

Time will tell.

When I cooked my head-gasket, a pinhole leak in stop and go traffic on a 2 lane highway under construction with no shoulder, while in college it took 6 months for the gasket to actually go.

You might be good. But give it a few months to see if you are out of the woods.

It 'should' be okay. The only way to get a 'better' idea is a basic UOA by pulling out a sample when you change the oil and sending it in.

You should definitely change the oil either way.

Also, make sure the cooling system is free of air.
