1st time installing a new bearing and hub on my 2004 Nissan Sentra.
Everything went smoothly and bearing installed well. I had a lot of confidence in that part of the install.
When I pressed in the hub, I had a bearing press cup on the back side, but it was sized to the collar of the back of the steering knuckle that the back of the bearing seats against, not the back of the bearing.
When I was done pressing the hub on, there was play in the hub.
After realizing I should have used a smaller press cup against the back of the bearing itself, I re-pressed the hub and everything tightened up the way it should be with no play in the hub. The hub turns smoothly with a slight but smooth resistance.
Did I screw up this bearing, or should it be good to go with confidence?

I think what happened is the hub shaft forced the inner hub bearing race to separate slightly towards the inside.
I was a small amount, so not sure that there was a lot of stress on the bearings themselves.
Using the press with the smaller press cup pulled the inner race back in tight to the original position.
SKF Bearing if it makes a difference
