Did I get bad gas?

I started getting my gas at a station on my way to work. Its on the right side of the street so I dont have to cross lanes, wait at lights etc

I noticed that my Jeep is down on power and mpg is terrible. Its by no means a race car but with 3.73 gears and a manual transmission its peppy around town.

Last tank averaged 12.56 mpg.

Tonight I went across the street to Sinclair. After filling it up I immediatly noticed it was running smoother and had much more pep

What could make such a noticible power loss?

I got some bad gas tonight from my white beans and ham. Got it at my tummy filling station. Top tier taste though.
I didn't want to be that specific because this was not the Humor forum and I already got into trouble over misplaced humor usage earlier today.

Does happen at times Chris…

Very, very seldom but I have had 2 times maybe 3 where the gasoline I bought was definitely not right.

There's a station in my town that has similar effect on the couple cars I've filled there. Bad idle, low power, bad mileage. It's a busy station, so I'd think it would be just an transient issue, but it is every time for me. My co-workers report the same issues I'm seeing with that station. There's another of the same branded station about 15 miles away, but I don't see the issue there.
I just go across the street now, no issues at the Mobil station.

Yeah, I gotta chime in on the "It does happen, but thankfully, it happens rarely BUT at the same stations".

The No-Name station near me has gas which made my 5 cylinder na Volvo run badly AND turned on the CEL.
Other gas cleared it all up....so after several fill-ups, I went back and voila'...more poorer running and the CEL returned.
With experimentation completed, I named the station, "CGT", for Cheapest Gas in Town.

My guess is they add water, knowing the alcohol will pull water through the system.

You probably did.
I've had that problem here with Sheetz stations.
Most tanks are just fine but I've had several where the car does not perform well, and fuel from another source cleans the issue up.
Permanently cross to the other side, and keep doing the Dino.

Ethanol could be a problem if it's over 15%. Here in California most stations run about 10% ethanol maximum. But it can go higher and there might have been a cheap load of fuel put into one of their tanks that contain an excess amount of ethanol. You're basically getting jipped when there's too much ethanol in the fuel it will evaporate very quickly and your mileage will go down especially in warm weather

It isn't going to evaporate from your tank? It will not burn with the correct ratio if you engine isn't flex fuel though.
