Dexos1 gen 2 in a 2026?

the question being dexos gen 2 comparing to gen 3?????????????,as he has a 2026,so evidently his car requirements are gen 3 dexos. try READING the title.
I’m going to LoL when OP’s vehicle isn’t even a GM.

Also, dexos use isn’t a requirement in GMs; they can recommend whatever they want. It’s a pay-per-quart licensing scheme disguised as some elevated standard, which it isn’t. These engines will live a long happy life on just about any modern oil if kept clean & changed before runaway oxidation sets in, just like nearly every other engine made today.

It would really help if the original post had more info, and yes, the dexos is just a recommendation on GM behalf and really not instrumental to many situations. only warranty .

Dexos = Dollars, it's good revenue for GM to take in. what were GM engines doing before 2011, did something evolve we were left in the dark about? lol

I don’t think there are enough words in the original post to constitute a real question. I will say that it is a bit of an imposition for asking us to actually discern the varieties of Dexos.

it really wasn’t a question I guess. it will be fine. If anything should happen I’ll just say it was Dexos1 gen3. The oil itself shouldnt cause an issue.
