Dexos for new truck

Or you could just do what I do with my Silverado 2500 6.0L. Same L96 engine OP has. I don't even worry about using an oil that is on the "approved" list. I just use a 5w30 that is a solid performer and the blender claims meets the spec. No, not Amsoil either. But I trust them. Been using that since I got the 6.0L two years ago and it has complained a bit.

Does anyone have any experience with the new ACDelco synthetic at the GM dealers?

While my knee-jerk response would be to consider PP or M1, there are lots of dedicated Valvoline users.
We do have an engine builder here who finds that Valvoline oils keep engines very clean with very low wear based upon his teardowns.
OTOH, we have a dedicated M1 user here who just passed 200K on his Fusion and from what you can see through the oil fill hole, it looks very clean and he also reports nil consumption, so wear must be under control and the rings must remain free.
At the end of the day, regular maintenance may be more important than choice of oil.
Since you thought enough to create the topic, there's no doubt that you'll take care of maintenance on your new truck.
Give it that and oil brand is probably of little importance.

Thanks for the honest answers, I have been hesitant to use PP since I had issues with the add pack falling out into the bottom of the quart bottle, my concern is I will end up with crud in the bottom of my engine oil pan, just like the bottle

how old is this stash? I know the NAPA syn is pretty close to synpower and has the dexos approval. To be honest, any quality synthetic will run just fine but next time you stock up I would consider getting one with the approval to give the warm and fuzzies.

From your owners manual:

"Viscosity Grade

Use SAE 0W-20 viscosity grade for the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines. Use SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade for the 4.3L V6, and 6.0L V8 engines."

So, since you have the 6.0L, 5W/30 is ok and I am sure that Valvoline meets Dexos1 but they just don't want to pay for the license - use it up. When it's done, try to buy a certified Dexos1 oil just to be safe and save your receipts. Even Supertech Synthetic meets Dexos1.
