Is it okay to use these chargers interchangeably with these batteries?

The charger with the wrapped cord came with my black 1.5 ah batteries 5 years ago. The DCB112 came with some tools and 2 small yellow 2 ah batteries. The 115 came with 2 big yellow 5 ah batteries. It’s also a substantially bigger charger. About 50% taller or so with much better venting

I’m guessing the 1.5 and 2 ah batteries and chargers can be used interchangeably with zero issues and no noticeable charging speed while the 5 ah batteries can be charged on any charger as well, but the 115 will be noticeably faster.

Any ill effects doing this? Thanks.

Yes. I’m wearing mismatched crocs with socks. #noshame

IIRC some are higher current than others.

Generally they are interchangeable. Li-ion overall is not as sensitive to rapid charging (within reason) as lead acid batteries.

Remind me what the maximum amp rate is for each of those chargers? Preferably post the 12v and 20v current rating if they are different.

So long as youre not more than a 4C rate charge, youre generally OK. Slower is better though, when you can afford it, as it makes less heat, less overpotential and corrosion, etc.

DCB107 (Original with wrapped cord)
Input 60hz .5 amps
Output 1.25 amps

112
Input 60hz .7 amps
Output 2.0 amps

115
Input 60hz 1.5 amps
Output 4.0 amps

Is this the info you wanted?

Those are all interchangeable. I probably have 20 or so 20V+ batteries of the full range of Ah. I swap them all around. No problem. I finally after 8+ years have on 3Ah battery that doesn't hold a charge like new, but still is OK.

The only Idiot Move I made? I bought two aftermarket batteries from Amazon. One died straight away, the other blew juices on one of my tools (nailer as I recall, cleaned up ok)!! DRAT!!!!!!!!!!! Got my money back, but stupid is stupid.

Yes they are interchangeable. I picked up one of the yellow colored fast charger which has a fan inside which cools the batteries while charging them. That is much faster for charging the 4&5amh batteries.

I know this is OFF the TOPIC of the original thread, but I just want to let 20V MAX owners know to NOT waste time on aftermarket batteries (yet). Maybe in the future there will be some better options, but the couple I bought were bootlegged garbage and one even spewed juices.

DeWalt batteries are good and I trust them. I have one that is around 6-7+ years old and it still works ok, probably getting near EOL.

Just a heads up.
