Dewalt has come out with a 20 V 8 AH replacement battery. This also brings down the price of the 20 V 5 AH battery which can now be had for about $60 US. Enjoy.

That is a HUGE battery! When I was building my house in 2004 I had a set of 18V that was really good. But the battery tech was much lower then. Last year I sold my old 18V and upgraded to a large 20V kit with 2.5Ah and 5 Ah. And 8 Ah must be really good for circular saw and recip saw for sure.
Yeah that is a massive battery. I guess if you are a tradesman working all day long that 8ah makes sense. I have 2 4ah and a 5ah battery. They last a long time for most tasks I do.
All of my batteries I bought off of someone else unless they came in a kit. Retail prices on DeWalt batteries are normally high if bought separately.

it really depends on the tool.
I can kill a 5ah battery quick with the brushless grinder.
the hedge trimmer goes for close to an hour
Fan is 24hr+ for typical use.
Work light IIRC is about 24hours.
reciprocating saw .. never worn one down with that yet.. my jobs run out before battery.
Weedwacker about 40min. 25 on high
now a leaf blower or circ saw absolutely demolish the batteries fast.
If I was using a drill or a little impact driver I'd prefer something small such as a 2AH.
most of the other tools dont matter as much but if the battery isnt going to run out why use a 2lb vs a 1lb

FYI The latest line os HF cordless has a battery that looks identical to the DW battery. Worth a try if you don't have the dough.
I got the 9AHr with my Milwaukee string trimmer and blower combo from Home Depot last year. It's a big battery for sure. It came with the rapid charger. The 9AHr battery will run the edger attachment for a good 30/35 minutes under a full load. The trimmer for at least 45 minutes.
Plenty of torque. Then I bought a 1/2 impact mid torque brushless that came wit a 4 AHr battery and the regular charger. The rapid charger is the one to get.
There is also a Dewalt mover with two 10 AH batteries. Ho-ho-ho
