Detailing Courses

I am considering this one-day course that is being taught by Kevin Brown and a few other well-recognized industry experts:

From the syllabus, it appears that they will be covering DA sanding and rotary usage, which are two areas that I am not familiar with.

I would like to think that this course will help me gain a better understanding of proper techniques that will allow for safer and more predictable outcomes.

Has anyone attended any similar courses (i.e. Esoteric Elite Detailer Academy) and can comment on their experience?

I don't understand what is covered in the "advanced" class above and beyond the "standard".

$700 for that class, I could be making a killing ripping people off teaching them everything I've learned working in the paint shop for 15yrs. Lol!! But seriously, if you got $700 to spare on this class go for it. It looks like it will be fun and sanding and buffing is a good skill to learn. But if it was me I would try to get a part time gig at a body shop, they can teach you same thing and you can make some extra cash. That's all stuff we teach the entry level guys to do.

That does seem like a lot of dough. I could see $200-300 tops. You should be at the top of your game by practicing at the detail shop you work in. In a way you're paying for the skills you're learning there with your time.

If you're looking to start your own full time detail business then maybe. But not as a part-time hobby since it doesn't make good business sense imo.

Judging from the instruction given, I think this is definitely worth the money. I am really looking forward to class!

In 1986 I took a 1 day (6.5 hours) class put on by Auto Majic. My uncle, who owned a tire store and a gas station, was thinking about opening a detail business. He sent 2 of us to the class. He never opened the business but I did learn a lot about detailing.
