The problem with having no dental plan is that many dentist offices will charge more for a self pay customer vs what someone with insurance allows for a procedure.
Depends on the dentist. I self insured for years, even worked for a dentist once in high school, got cheap dental coverage from him but he died several years ago. With Delta, even with the premiums it was cheaper than self insurance, my dentist would give me discounts but the discounts weren't as great as the discounts Delta would give itself. I had a decent $30/month plan with Delta that my dentist initially took, but then they stopped taking it and I had to switch to the more expensive $60/month plan. Might drop it once I hit the max coverage for the year.Just self-insure. Dental bills are pretty tame compared to medical where a major surgery with hospital stay could be 6 figures. I can't imagine most dental procedures exceeding a few thou.
Well I won't get into it, but the simple answer is yes. They cap it at $1250 a year in benefits. If you can find a dentist that does $40 cleanings, then you don't need a dental plan. Suffice to say, even with the friend discount I get from my dentist, the walk in rates are higher than the rates I end up paying with Delta. It was well worth it at $30 a month, now at $60, it's more of a mixed bag, as I said, I might drop it once I'm done with what I need.$60 a month is $720 a year. Do you expect to have more than that in dentist bills for the year? More than $7,200 over 10 years? And if it pays only 50% and it's capped at $1000 per year, does it make much sense? Dental insurance is a business just like anything else. They are in it to make money. The rate plan reflects that. The average person paying $720 a year will only use two cleanings at what, $40 each at 50% ? The rest is profit.
You can get $17 plans that pay 50% and two cleanings a year at $20 each. That is worth it.$60 a month is $720 a year. Do you expect to have more than that in dentist bills for the year? My dumb ass didn’t want braces as a kid despite my mom wanting me to get them. I did Invisalign about 10 years ago, got my teeth whitened and wear a retainer at night.Have Delta with the spouses insurance.. One crown and the yearly limit was toast. I think it was less than or in around $2,200 -
You definitely get you moneys worth if yo ar e regularlu have work done , It but wont cover multiple surgeries unless you spread them out over years.
Man, crowns are ripoff for those tiny things - worse than braces.
I skipped the braces in my yoot,
