I heard it was a variety of federal law enforcement, along with a local agency (Contra Costa Sheriff) carrying out the arrest. I recall there was another pilot being arrested at an airport, but I don't believe they went on the plane to get him.

A spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations in San Francisco told the Chronicle on Sunday night that the agency assisted local officials in executing an arrest warrant.
“This is an ongoing local investigation with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office,” the spokesperson said.

This has a rather short video of the law enforcement getting off with a shocked captain.

Kelsey who has 94 gear channel on YouTube has a current video and synopsis. Apparently he was freaked out because he had a bottle of vodka in his bag. He changed his story multiple times when asked when's the last time he drank.

Different story - different arrest.

The 74Gear (not 94) channel has a story about a Delta pilot arrested for intoxication, before flight, at the gate in Minneapolis.

The linked story above is upon landing in SFO.

I wonder why they had so many units for one person. It's not like he's armed. wouldn't two cops be plenty.

There have been SWAT teams called to carry out warrants for fairly minor arrests. But I suppose it was possible that he could have been armed under the Federal Flight Deck Officer program.

Even then, quite a few thought that the show of numbers was excessive.

More clarification on the arrest. I wasn’t necessarily on allegations of possession of explicit materials involving children. Reports are that he previously lived in San Ramon, but currently resides in Florida. The Contra Costa Sheriff would generally only be involved if it were in an unincorporated area. Or perhaps the alleged crime occurred in different jurisdictions and they were the lead. I won’t quote anything, but recent reports are somewhat graphic. Let’s just say it was for something he allegedly did with a child under 10.

I think people are more concerned about guns on the plane instead of who's already on the plane upon landing. I am not sure if that's a protocol but if he got wind of someone going to arrest him can he take the whole plane full of passenger hostage is the concern I guess?

I have been in awe of pilots from a young age, probably since I was seven, but realized long ago I don't have the coordination to fly. It's one of my few unrealized dreams.

It boggles my mind that someone living my dream (flying professionally) would (IF the allegations are true) throw it away for an immoral activity.
