my 91 nissan pathfinder's manual says I can use 10w30 down to 0 deg. But would this still apply to an oil like delo 400 10w30 which is an hdo??.. I still havent decided between this oil and GC which I have both in stock for my 91 pathfinder (145K miles)..my truck sheared the 10w30 chevron supreme to a 20wt in 2400 miles and just started making alot of noise..which will flow better in the cold and more shear stable between GC and delo 10w30?

The temp range will apply to the Delo 10w30 no different than any other 10-30, with 145K , I would run the Delo first as some cleaning action is going to happen, moniter and see how fast it gets really dark. After 1 or 2 intervals on that , then use the GC. Intervals may not be full normal OCI. Even after that expect first use of the GC to get darl pretty quickly on intial first use. Again monitor till you feel comfortable with condition and change when you can't stand it anymore.
For your other questions hands down the GC should flow beter in extreme cold and be more shear stable. But if you use it straight off you will probably find it will solublize some deposits and get dark pretty quickly so you may not want to run it as long as a normal synthetic OCI. In other words you may find it being a short interval flush almost if the engine has not seen a synthetic before. This is all assuming that 145k engine is not the cleanest at this point.

If Delo 10w30 were readily available it would be very popular. I don't know if it's too thick for 0f. GC should have an advantage at 0f b/c it's synthetic.

Delo will be more shear stable than GC , also Delo has a much better additive package than GC. Below zero GC would have the advantage , but at 145k i would use the DELO , if it gets below zero go with 5w30 HAVOLINE , also no matter what you read on this site DELO 400 will keep your engine cleaner than GC.

drums why do you say Delo would be more shear stable?
I think at most it would be a tossup, as i don't remeber seeing any anlysis on GC where it had sheared, but I may be not recalling the particulars correctly? And have not seen to many analysis on the 10-30 , but do agree that it will hold up well, just it will have some VII 's where the GC will have none.

forgot to mention I just did a double arx treatment..both of the products i mentioned are easily accesible. Truck is not consuming any oil.

If Walmart put it next to the 15w40 Delo, it would sell great.
