Here are the parameters. Tran was run for the past 60k on Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF (2005 bottled vintage). The pan was dropped, new filter installed, and a T-Tech fluid exchanger cycled in the M1. Total M1 used was 3-gallons. Under quick acceleration the shifts became very sloppy, or slippery I was say. I added 2 bottles of Lucas ATF additive which somehow corrected this. My guess is the Lucas friction modified the M1, also it caused firmer 1-2 shifts in the cold. Over the last few months the transmission also started to shutter during some gear changes like R to OD. The biard here recently mentioned this is a sign of ATF aging/failure so I decided on service time.
On Amsoil, the same pan & filter service was done,a long with a BG Fluid service. I used 1-case of Amsoil ATF. The shop did put in some kind of BG additive bottle. I do not mind this too much, but would have prefered straight Amsoil.
Observations: The shifts are smooth and great!
Other notes: Pablo's recent post giving us clues on the sophisticated new Amsoil formula (and base oil composition) make me feel like a got a wonderful product for the money.[compared to M1 possibly being GroupIII and Redline being a tad bit more costly]
So thanks Amsoil & you guys are pushing me towards defecting to yall due to my budding mistrust in Mobil1's PCMO base group switcharoo.
