How bad is this really? Installed Dec 2019...if they need replaced, what is a good budget brand that won't do this? I live in Tx so the heat is bad.

This is highly unusual.

First, that tire is hardly worn, but it's 3 years old. That is at least part of the problem. There are cracks on the surface of the tread - meaning the tread rubber is being worn off more slowly than the rubber is degrading. The antioxidants (AO's) in the rubber don't migrate to the surface when the tire is idle. The tire needs to be regularly exercised. That part isn't alarming.

But the cracks in the groove are. This is not normal weather cracking. There is something wrong with the tire and it should be replaced. Not right away, but in the next few months.

Further, "Budget Brand" is also part of the problem. Those kinds of tires don't use a lot of AO's because AO's are expensive. I think you might be better served to move up to "Value Brand".

Any value brands I should look at? I was thinking Douglas...

The car doesn't get much mileage anymore since the 4runner was added to the fleet, but I think the cracking started before that...

Save your money. Don't buy Chinesium trash, but don't splurge on high treadwear tires if they're going to end up cracking at the same rate as cheaper tires.

The previous set of definity hp800 that I had went close to 50k with no issues. I know they're Chinese, but what about the milestar WEATHERGUARD AS710 SPORT? 67 dollars a tire with a 70k warranty, 720 utqg?

Edit....actually according to their video, they're usa made tires
