I know a lot of you have told me to not post my plates anymore but I will continue until we have a dedicated license plate thread lol.
I get shy creating threads lol. But maybe I will sometime.
@AutoMechanic here you go bud. Post them up, all of them. We love your plate collection. Those who don't - can scroll through other threads. Those who like this, feel free to contribute as well.

Here’s mine. Still need to add DUNE and my grandparent’s old Maroon AZ plate. Will organize them a lot nicer to hang them eventually.

2ESCAPE was on my aunt’s ‘02 Ford Escape, she then had the ‘04 Beetle TDI which got SUPABUG. PIKABUG is on the ‘70 Beetle, REDDEVL was on my dad’s ‘93 GMC C1500 when I was a kid, it was lowered and custom, all red. Fancher is my last name, G3NES1S was on the Genesis obviously, and TOTODIL was on my ‘21 Tesla, it looked like the Pokémon Totodile.

I have the environmental plates on the ‘14 Grand Cherokee and Sonata, I like the colors on them. They’re a lot brighter in person and during the day. The ‘96 Jeep’s I don’t have a closeup, but here’s a pic too.

Before reading the explanation I though FANCHER was for either of the Jeeps, as in FAN of the CHERokee.

OP didn't say this had to be a photo thread, so I am going to rant about the letter/numbering of AZ plates. Plates used to be 7 characters, 3 letters followed by 4 numbers in alphanumerical order. Now they are issuing random letters and numbers and it's creating some really bizarre combinations that appear like they could be personalized plates. Very annoying, plus I liked seeing approx how old someone's plate was by the letters it started with.

Anyone know why they'd randomly change?

Here will be my first contributions. My brand new plates for my rides. Will hang the ones that are currently on them up on my wall. I don’t turn in plates and never have lol.

I will have a lot of posting to do for sure. I went to the pawn shop today and seen some old ones asked and turns out the guy had a whole stack in the back too. I’ve dealt with him for years so he gave me a great deal on them.

HI late-80's to early-90's 'warrior head' 'Kamehameha I' plate design:

After 30 years of the rainbow design plates and last allocation of letter/number combinations, our state is in the works for coming up with a new plate design and allocating a new set of digits for the new plates.

I can tell you this: in PA they no longer issue a PA plate that starts with a vowel. I have my old plate that started with letter E

Presumably they got to the end of the available sequence using the old configuration (AAA0000 - ZZZ9999).

Passenger cars in British Columbia used to be 3 alpha characters followed by 3 numeric characters. Then if flipped to 3 numeric followed by 3 alpha. After that, they started doing what you're describing.

Running out of character combinations is the downside of keeping the same plates year after year.

I don’t like it either. I’ve always done the same too with dating the plates, I got my ‘96 Chevy C1500 in 1/2011 and it was ANW5545. The Genesis was one of the last-ish plates with the 3 letters and 4 numbers, CTC0794.

But at least they stopped with the 7 characters of randomness, I guess it got too confusing for people to call 911 and remember the plate, so they switched to 6 characters.

Added two more sets to the collection today. The 89 MAZDA off of the 89 Mazda B2200 replaced by the In God We Trust 89 MAZDA then the 3741RS Fight Terrorism off the 2008 Escape replaced by Choose Life BLAKEW plates. The yellow definitely sticks out on the green but i actually don’t think it looks too bad. Who knows I’ll probably switch them each year from now on lol. My goal is to get a pair of each of Virginia license plates that I’m able too some have special requirements.

Virginia Antique Plates that I’ve collected. They had to make them bigger when they run out of 4 digit numbers. Still looking for a set of yellow ones if anyone has any leads to any I’d appreciate it.

Here is some rare hard to find Virginia recalled Autumn Leaves plates. Police complained of visibility issues with this. They revised it and now leaves just border the edges.

Virginia Lighthouse license plates. Probably one of my favorite bases we offer. These were on our van from 2001-2012. Have the original set from it too and all the ones after this and the ones that are still on it lol. It’s one vehicle I’ll always keep the plates from. It’s also the only vehicle we have had my whole life the others have came and gone since.

Some more cool ones. Kind of hard to find NC red font license plates. The red was complained about by police for hard to read when the light hits it. They were only issued for a couple years. Kentucky Military Reserve. You have to know someone in Kentucky that was in the reserves to get one of those I found that one on Facebook. And a good ole Tennessee standard issue plate. I would like to find one of the blue standard issue plates too.

Some more plates from the AutoMechanic plate collection lol. I’m now trying to complete my 50 state motorcycle run. Also still looking for Rhode Island plates for my collection as that’s the only state I need to reach 50. Still will accept any plates offered as always so if you have any reach out to me.

Got this stack of plates at the pawn shop. We know the guy pretty well. Bought the stack for $30 and bought probably 50-60 sockets and a few screwdrivers and the total tab was $35. The tags actually weren’t for sale he just had them cause he liked old stuff but he said for you I’ll sell them. So now what’s in this stack? (Will be two posts) Let’s see:

Don’t know why the last picture is sideways but oh well. I know to a lot of you it may seem like rusty junk but these plates except the singles and stickered plates can be reactivated but however not a single one of these can be because there Is no letter from the last owners relinquishing ownership which is required in Virginia for YOM tags.
