As you all remember in a earlier post my Head gasket failed. It left large amounts of soft graphite on the deck. Just wondering is there a good easy quick way to get this stuff off. Tried scraping but that just left a shiney coat.

Also tried plugging up the oil and water passages with paper towels but that failed will try a cut up sheet next. I can flush out any junk that falls into the water jackets but oil should I drop the pan or just poor lots of cheap fresh oil down the holes and drain it. Got lots of older RedLine laying here that should work ;-) Or should I drop the pan and clean it too?

Thanks for you ongoing help

Ken

when i did a rebuild of a ford 400 in the car i stood over the engine by placing my feet on each fender well. i pressure cleaned the entire deck and lifter valley area while the heads were removed.

as long as you remember remove the drain plug before doing that it wont hurt anything and is the easiest way in the world to clean an engine.
