I have about 4 cases, one being M02 and planned on using it this summer as I did last summer. After my last run in 20 weight, I feel like I would be wasting the GC to use it when I could use something else and be happier with it. I don't remember GC being a problem with mpg, but I want to max out mpg. I dunno. Mom is getting a new Jetta and I can use the GC in her car, the only car I have now that would be a good candidate for it.

Should I just use the GC....I have 5q of PP 10w-30 here that I have not tried yet. 2006 RSX w/ 35k.

I'm still thinking about it. The Delo is not that bad, I kinda like the smooth/quiet. I really want to get rid of this M02 stock. What is nice about GC, is that I can leave it in for 4 months rather than the 3 I generally do with other synths. I'll wait to get my MPG reading back from the Delo 30. Right now, I'm leaning back toward GC. Once I put it in, I'm stuck with it because I'm too cheap to dump it early.

Did you have any change in engine noise and performance with GC? I have a RSX-Base and have decided to give it a go. I picked up enough today to do an oil change.

I know, what the mpg with the 5w-20 runs, so it will be easy to do a comparison with the GC.

Any large amount of oil consumption?

I'm getting 31-32 driving smartly on secondary roads. A highway run yields less, like 28-29 @80mph. Consumption is nill. I added a good shot of ARX before driving off the lot with 9 miles on it! I gave it a moderately hard break-in. I changed the FF at 5000miles. I used moly-rich Havoline oil at first and then some others like M1. I have a lot of M1 0w-30, PP, Havoline Synth and GC. After I use this fill of GC, there are 3 cases of M03, for whenever in whatever car. I think I will probally use the GC, what the heck. It
's just hard to decide, other than the M1 0w-30 definately for winter. I change every 3 months, about 9000 miles. Next year is all Havoline, using 2q of 5w-20 in Spring, 1q of 5w-20 in Summer and 3q of 5w-20 for Fall mixied in with the 10w-30 I got all on sale. I figure for Fall, the temps are going down, so I want a thinner blend. One more thing, I changed to RedLine MTL at 7500 miles and THEN I started getting good mpg. I did not see much of a mpg hit using GC last year. I'll just be using it for the sake of using it up now. Synth oils are just not cost/effective, imo. Other than PP BOGO, I would just buy plain dino if I did not have a huge stash.

Alright, I just put in the GC! I got identical mpg with the Delo 30 and like the smooth/quiet vs lighters oil. I went for it partly because I am out of sync with my timed 3 month ocis and need to extend it a bit. GC is the one.

I'm dissapointed. It's too heavy. I pound the gas and it's like syrup in there. I hope it gets better.

I am going to stay with the synthetic Mobil 1 5w-20 silver cap (5 qt. jug for $23 at wal-mart). I have used this oil after Amsoil xl7500 5w-20 with the same results as the Amsoil. It's not broke, so I am not going to fix it.

I still go for the 10 to 12 months and 5000 to 7000 mile oci, severe driving. The 5w-20 seems to work great in this tight engine.

Gas mileage is pretty good. The best was on the highway at 39 mpg. Usually for stop and go, we get around 25 mpg.

The motor is pretty peppy for being a base model.

I wanted to use the GC, because I have it in everything else.

Delo would go the distance no problem.

Right now, I'm feeling better about the GC. I have to rev the heck out of it to get going, but when I do, the power is fine and it is SUPER smooth. Mpg seems ok. I have not really had a normal driving cycle to compare, but it's ok.

The jury is still out. Although it feels slower in mid range, when I rev it the thing really screams. While on longer trips, it is quite normal feeling. My thinking is that quieter does not equal slower. My mpg update, still tentative, is looking normal if not slightly improved. I easily hit 200 at 1/2 tank and total is about 30.5 mpg, perfectly normal.

What Jetta is she getting? If it's the 2.0T, note that I've experienced rapid boil off using it as a top-off oil. I'd suggest Castrol 5w40 for a 2.0T.
