Is there a decent inkjet printer that will also make copies that has inexpensive cartidges, that is cartridges that are less than $20-$30 each?

The game is that they could give away the printers and still make money because you have to buy their high priced cartridges.

Same as those fax machines with the disposable print roll...that cost about $35 a pop.

I bought a camera that came with a free printer.

The printer/copier has been the best thing I've had in the office. Makes PERFECT copies (both color and b&w) and I buy the cartridges (10 black and 10 color) for $24 delivered.

Photos are impressive also. I like the you can replace just the carts, just the heads (have not had to) and get excellent life out of the cartridges.

Canon Pixma MP130 is the model. I've had it for about 18 months with no issues. Its on 24/7 and the family uses it a lot. I'd say at least 500-750 pasges a month.

Take care, Bill

I could give up refilling mine for that price.

Here is the auction I bid on. My 2nd one from them (We get about a year on the $24 worth of carts)

Ink cartridges on Ebay

My last order had more B&W carts and I have about 5 left. So since the wife and kids are doing more color (mostly photos) I bought a 50/50 order.

Excellent service both times.

I've stopped refilling. My blood pressure could not handle it anymore. The refills would not last every long and messy. Plus now the older Daughter or wife can change the cartridge now!

Check out the Brother MFC-240C it can be bought as low as 29.98 refurbished and around 40-50 new.

Ink system is a 4 cart deal only replace the color thats out. Cheap carts can be bought at many places. Meritline for one.
cheap carts Some of the multi cart deals there have free shipping as well.

If I am not mistaken, Epson and Cannon both have the printer heads in the printer. Many others have them in the cartridges.

I have had good luck for both my Epson and Cannon printers using the compatible cartridges from re-inks. I always order the combo-packs.

There are several other sites and some could be cheaper but over the years have had good luck with their compatible cartridges.

I've got the same one, too. Can't say a bad word about it apart from maybe the fact that the cartridges really don't last since they're so small - I probably get 50-70 b/w pages on a cartridge. Thankfully they're very inexpensive.

Interesting. I've gone through a BOX of paper (10 reams of 500 pages per) and on my 2nd box. I've used about 100 sheets of 8x11 photo paper (the stuff at Sam's Club which is glossy and works well) and I've used 2 sets of Canon brand carts and 6 color and 9 black of the ones I linked above.

So that is 11 black and 8 color carts for around 5,500 sheets (mostly b&w with color here and there) and the 100 sheets of photos.

Wished my Wife and kids understood the idea of print PREVIEW....

Yeah the MP130 is about 14months to 2 years old I'd say.

The newer printers are all cheap in price but expensive in ink. IMO if I want a cheap to use consumer printer I'll buy a used one that has large generic ink (i.e. Deskjet 600 series). They used to sell ink with chip that prevent refill, and someone found a way to crack the chip's protection, now they use very very small ink tank to make it expensive to refill, so it is much harder to make profit on it.

Most of HP profit is from ink cartridge sales...

I recently purchased a Canon MX310 All-In-One which uses cartridges with a print head (expensive to replace). The higher end machines still use the individual ink tanks you clip into the head. Consumer Reports rated MP520 as a Best Buy. Did not find that one, but here is a MP530 for $99.95 with Free Shipping (originally went for $298.00). Looks like a good deal since you could buy aftermarket ink for cheap.

We got a free HP printer with our computer 3+ years ago. 3847 I think. Works fine, just finally had to replace the ink this year. The cartridges are around $20(cheaper on ebay) and HP actually release Linux drivers. Find a cheaper model without fancy features and the ink will probably be cheaper.

Kodak!
Just picked up the ESP7 :
9.99 for the black ,19.99 for the color cartidges.
Printer scanner fax with card reader, wired and wireless ports and duplex printing . 149.99 @ Circuit city and BB will pricematch it.
Also the printhead is user replaceable (no harder than a cartridge)
