Has anyone ever tried a decarbon of the combustion chambers and autorx?
I'm assuming that the auto rx will not decarbon the cumbustion chambers?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Auto-RX is NOT miscible with fuel so you could not use it while the heads are attached. To lay the heasds out in the sun or under some kind of heat I would say yes.

What about in an oil burner like my toyota? The first treatment I was using 1 quart every 500 miles. The oil with auto-rx has to get in the cyl. so it should do some cleanning I would think.

Soaking piston crowns in a strong solvent like B-12 Chemtool or better yet Lube Control would help! I would probably soak the top of the piston through the spark plug holes with the solvent and let it sit over night. The next morning I would soak the pistons again with solvent. Replace the spark plugs and wire the engine up. Bring it up to operateing temps and then change the oil! It would be well advised to use some type of fuel additive like Nuetra, Fuel Power, Redline SP1, Amsoil Power shot, Lucas fuel COnditioner etc for a while!!!

Note that they above will never replace what can be done mechanicly buy removeing the heads. It is amazeing though how much it can help. If the car is fuel injected it should not have the heavy deposits associated with older carberated cars and trucks!

A good cheap way to decarbon your combustion chamber is to use water. Find a way to tickle water into your intake manifold. With carburated cars, one can trickle the water straight into the carb. Peolpe with fuel injection will have to find a place to introduce the water thats after the MAF sensor. First get your vehicle up to operating temperature, then trickle water in while reving the engine. The trick is not to let the engine die. This is an age old mechanics secret. Some people trickle ATF fluid, although I don't see the reason. With water, you are basically steam cleaning the combustion chamber. The water flashes to steam in the cylinder and cleans. Warning: carbon will pour out of the exhaust and your neighbors will wonder what's wrong with your car. Anyone who has had the misfortune of repairing a blown head gasket where the coolant was leaking into the combustion chamber can attest to the cleaning power of water. Usually, the cylinder that has the leak is shiny clean, where the other cylinders have the typical carbon in them.

I know about the water thing and have done it many times in the past.
The only thing is that I have a bad feeling about using water when it is supposed to react with used oil to cause sulfuric acid.

I don't want to cause damage to my engine, so I would probably use a solvent cleaner like amsoil power foam or seafoam type product.

I guess my question is how to use autorx with a decarbon procedure? Looking for ideas on how others have done them both.
