Personally, I would rather use that $10 to spend on someone that needs the help. I can watch the same major showing-movie that's at the show this week, in 3-4 more years for free. It's not like I'm missing-out on it forever.
What's the hurry to see it anyways? Are you one of those that play Judge when the Academy Awards are shown on TV? Is it really embarrassing when workmates discuss the latest movies during lunch break and you cannot partake?
The answer is No, it's not important and not embarrassing at all. Actually when the workmates are done discussing the latest new movie, I start a discussion on how I helped someone out yesterday.
Got a new girlfriend and want to date her at first run movies?.....OK. That's the only excuse I can think of, that's a good reason to see your hard-earned $10+ used properly for first run movies. Otherwise no, everyone has TVs - same with video recorders and nearby Video rental places.
Spend your money more wisely and put it to better use.
That's all very interesting, but there are still matinee's out there in the $6-$7 range. Also when you make decent money, $6-$10 is really nothing. It's like going to lunch or dinner, about the same price, maybe less. There's no point saving money if you don't spend some of it on entertainment once in a while.
