DC Fast charger network installations don’t seem to be slowing down. Record number of USA installs in Q2 2025. Stations are getting larger (more stalls), with more amenities and much better reliability.

“2025 will be a record year of fast charging deployment—our estimate of nearly 20% year-over-year increase in new ports," Paren's Chief Analyst Loren McDonald said in an email. “

“Partly contributing to this trend are what Paren calls “Charging 2.0” companies. That means new companies such as Ionna, Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging, BP Pulse and Walmart that are heralding the next phase of charging in the U.S.”

“The U.S. now has 11,687 public fast charging stations with nearly 60,000 ports. About 4,242 of these ports were added across 784 stations in the second quarter of this year, a 23.3% increase over the previous quarter. Tesla, ChargePoint and EVgo led this quarter-over-quarter speed of deployment.”

In other words, Government Farmers who were only interested in easy money from the government are finally failing off the market.

Unfortunately my 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE doesn't have DC fast charging. Im A OK with that since there are plenty of solar powered free of charge Level 2 Charging stations locally that rarely get filled. I have 4 go to options that are within a 20 mile radius of me. I'm looking at a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Platinum PHEV with DC fast charging. But until then I like free charging.

In my area (Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia) all the gaps along the freeway have filled in and even at the 'cheap gas' stations like the Mercedes-Benz/Chargepoint at the Buc-ees there is never a wait even on busy holiday weekends. Sure this experience cannot be painted on heavy adoption EV locations like California or parts of New England but charging on road trips is not really a problem in this area.

I rarely use DCFC as I L2 charge at home and at work, some rare weird times I do need to stop for 5-10 minutes because my car was in the shop and wasn't charged or wasn't able to get a charger at work. Below is from one of the GM/EVGo chargers I had to swing through for 5 minutes (ended up charging for 15 because I used restroom and grabbed some snacks and refreshments) - I payed more than at the Buc-ee's because the traffic and chaos of that place will make you want to rip your hair out.
