Daylight Savings Time

I like it just the way we do it now. Standard in the winter and DST from spring to fall.

While I am retired and let's be honest, it gets light when the sun comes up and dark when the sun sets.
I always loved DST for the additional 'play' hours after work. My perspective has changed a bit in retirement. Even so, some part of me still loves it.

Could not care less. MY happiness is much greater when I have sunshine, and happiness leads to better health. People who prefer early sunsets are odd.
If you read the links the issue isn't DST itself but more importantly the transition to DST. It is the transition in the Winter/Spring where there's an increase in vehicle accidents, cardiovascular events, etc. Interestingly the rate of occurrences for these events drops when you transition back to SDT in the Fall/Winter. It's not rocket science. Everyone is tired during the first week or so of DST. You body evolved to wake up when it's light out, not wake up in the dark.

Exactly. This is why I believe we should end the change and pick one, then stick with it year round. My vote is for more sun at the end of the day. Nothing like watching the sunset during warm summer days at around 9PM with a good cigar and short glass of bourbon. Of course it would still be good at around 8PM if it stays on Standard Time 😁.

Get rid of it. It makes no sense. If companies or schools really want to change business hours by season then they can have at it.
Clock time is artificial. A Digitized Sundial

We used to get up at around sunrise to start the day. It's a moving target.

Should probably change clocks every three months, LOL!

Ya know, I just noticed the neighbor's rooster is likely dead. He wasn't very reliable anyhow, crowing everytime the farmer told a fib.
I think I just put two and two together ...

Probably true.

We also used to take much of winter off - nothing grows. Times change I guess.

I live on the Canadian border. Get rid of these changes. It’s insane in 2025.
I don't want the sun streaking in my expansive bedroom window and waking up my lazy bones at 5:30 am. Did too many decades of that when I was running in the rat race.

Well, well. Hmm. Now that I think of it, being retired = ability to Ignore clock time.

I retract my argument. - The Old Codgers Association

Guess this comes up every year about this time (no pun ;)) when we have to adjust the clocks. And everything else. This is NOT to be anything Political, but there have been several mentions of a permanent time one way or the other. I personally would like to see that because the change twice a year causes lots of disruption and subsequent health issues. It is similar to when I used to work shifts that changed every few weeks or so. There have been studies that concluded switching up often was not so good for someone physically, and that permanent shifts were better from that standpoint. Now, which is better? DST or Standard Time? Pros and cons to each, but MY preference is for permanent DST. I absolutely love that the sun doesn't go down until like 9PM in the summertime and can spend time outside, in the sunlight, longer. Winter I hibernate anyway (especially now with retirement) And get up when it's dark almost everyday so thats moot for me. Plus, it just seems like so much time is "wasted" waiting for the day to get started. Sorry to take up so much TIME with the long post 😁.

There are no health issues from switching. That's something dredged up by those wanting to get rid of it. We all get up earlier sometimes to take a flight or go on vacation or for many other reasons and nobody drops dead from it.

Let's be honest, if you get health issues from getting up an hour earlier, you already had the health issues and the switch just gave you a little bump in that direction

People stay up on NYE or eat more than they should on Christmas, lets cancel those too as they're just as bad or worse.

I'm a fan of this system because it re-centers the day around useable daylight.

The only con is having to hear the complaints twice a year.
